Which medical billing schools offer certification?

You need to be very careful in this area, as many Internet schools offer “certification” in their ads, but this is not a national certification. Respected national certifications are available through the American Medical Billing Association (AMBA) — Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist, the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC)-Certified Coding Specialist and the National Health career Association(NHA)-Certified Coding and Billing Specialist. These organizations make the certification exam available to you, after completing a program of study and charge a fee to take the exam.

Costs of medical billing schools

Depending upon which option you choose, costs can range from a low of $499 (Meditec.com) to several thousand (AAS degree from Florida Comm. College--$4,050). Generally, online schools are cheaper, but before enrolling in any online course, be sure to check them out with the Better Business Bureau.
