Types of medical biller training courses

Most medical billing courses are certificate courses, designed as a career based program. If you prefer an academic (degree) course, you will probably need to enter a health information program. Continuing education after training

After certification, an established biller needs to stay current or upgrade their knowledge, as industry and government regulations change frequently. The American Medical Billers Asociation requires 15 continuing education units (CEUs) annually to keep a certification current. These can be obtained through national or online seminars or advanced courses. Courses or workshops are also offered through the American Association of Professional Coders and these are acceptable as continuing education units by both AAPC and AMBA.
